Books I Couldn't Put Down

Here’s a list of my favorite book recommendations. I tried to focus on ones that I devoured and couldn’t wait to tell people about.

There’s a little bit of everything in here, but they are mostly related to finance, history, personal growth, and people’s life stories.

Fearless: Adam Brown overcame crack addiction to become a decorated NAVY Seal and family man who was deeply respected by his peers and community

Robin: Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Aladdin. Just a few of the classics that Robin produced, and despite of all his amazing work he still believed he was a talentless fool

The Four - The Hidden DNA of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google: It’s hard to fathom just how impactful these companies have been on our lives. Not only do we need to take stock of how they did it, but also pay attention to their weaknesses so entrepreneurs can fight back

Relentless: From Good to Great to Unstoppable: Kobe Bryant , Michael Jordan, and Dwayne Wade’s personal trainer details the mindset necessary to become a champion

Atmamun: The path to achieving the bliss of the Himalyan Swamis. And the freedom of a living god: One of my favorites. Kapil Gupta focuses on the fact that our time here is limited and that should be enough to inspire action. You don’t have nearly as much time left as you think.

The 50th Law: Robert Greene and 50 Cent team up to deliver the life lessons 50 learned from growing up on the streets and selling drugs before his rap career took off

More Money Than God: A collection of stories detailing the exploits of hedge fund titans like George Soros and Paul Tudor Jones

American Kingpin: The rise and fall of Russ Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road, which was an illicit drug marketplace that helped fuel bitcoin’s gain initial traction

Billion Dollar Whale: Jho Low fooled everyone from the Malaysian Government to Leonardo DiCaprio into bankrolling his extravagant lifestyle full of 50 foot yachts and million dollar blackjack hands

Black Edge: The story of hedge fund manager Steve Cohen, soon to be owner of the New York Mets and inspiration for Billions hero Bobby Axelrod

Titan: John D. Rockefeller was the son of a snake oil salesman and ended up becoming the richest and most powerful man in the business world

Iron Ambition: How Mike Tyson’s trainer Cuss D’Amato brainwashed him into becoming a lethal killing machine

When Breath Becomes Air: A doctor details his journey through his own cancer diagnosis and how it altered the way he thought about mortality

That Will Never Work: Netflix founder Marc Randolph details the company’s humble beginnings from mail order DVD’s to being laughed out of Blockbuster headquarters

I Can’t Make This Up: Kevin Hart was once a sneaker salesman and grinded his way through night club comedy shows for almost a decade before finally getting his big break

The Gambler: Kirk Kerkorian was a penniless outsider who revolutionized the hotel and casino industry and went head to head with billionaire Howard Hughes

The MVP Machine: This book is for all the athletes who thought their potential was limited to their god given talents. Players like Trevor Bauer, Justin Turner, and JD Martinez have proved otherwise

The Sixth Man - A Memoir: Detailed look inside the life and career of NBA champion, Andre Iguodala.

Be Obsessed or Be Average: Immersing yourself 110% into whatever goal your looking to accomplish will increase your odds of succeeding exponentially

Ego is the Enemy: Necessary reading for people just starting their careers who have been blinded by their own delusions of grandeur after overachieving in high school and college

The Obstacle is the Way: Rather than seeking shortcuts, going through the tedious and difficult challenges life throws at us is the method necessary to evolve into the person capable of achieving your ambitious goals

The Slight Edge: Doing a little bit each day. 10 pushups, 15 minutes of writing, a lap around the track, will quickly compound into bigger and better results if you maintain consistency over time

Antifragile: Just like the Hydra who loses its head and grows back three, you must position yourself so that every experience makes you better and stronger

Americana - A 400 Year History of American Capitalism: A timeline that outlines the driving forces of business that led us from the steam boat to the iPhone. Each chapter is dedicated to a different innovation that defined the time period

The Man Who Solved The Markets: A glimpse inside the life and mind of Jim Simons, whose quantitative hedge fund Renaissance Technologies has been printing money for decades
